| Harvesters - the Community Food Network. Hunger in America is a challenge. Harvesters is part of the solution. Harvesters : the Community Food Network Gerry, age 78, has to choose every month between buying food and paying for prescription medications. “I’m retired and on a fixed income, ” she said. “Harvesters’ help makes a big difference.” Gerry is not alone. Nearly one out of every ten people who turn to Harvesters’ network for emergency food assistance is a senior citizen. Just like Gerry, many of them are facing difficult choices between buying food and paying for basic necessities like medicine or medical care. As the senior population grows, Harvesters is addressing needs of the elderly in our community. Join us for the 12th annual food and wine tasting gala April 24 in the Grand Ballroom at the KC Convention Center. Plant an extra row of fruits or vegetables in your garden this spring and donate the produce to Harvesters. Examine food insecurity in Missouri with the University of Missouri's new Hunger Atlas. Listen to Karen Haren, Harvesters' president and CEO, on KCUR 89.3 FM's Walt Bodine Show (scroll down to the March 5 air date). With nearly 60, 000 people to feed every week, we need your help. Find a drop-off location near you where you can donate non-perishable food and household products to those in need. © 2008 Harvesters - The Community Food Network 3801 Topping Ave. Kansas City, MO 64129 Phone: 816.929.3000 Fax: ...
